Mercedes F1 Agrees, DAS System Already a Thing of the Past

Mercedes F1 team has given the nod to the plan excluding DAS systems in 2021. Other cars will function in the same way they will do in 2020. That is only if the Formula 1 season starts. So far there is no news of an F1 event happening any time soon.
Originally, the rules were planned for 2021. But during this tough period, all the teams agreed to push the date for the introduction of new regulations to 2022. As a result, teams will be able to use the current engine specs. They might be allowed to modify the aerodynamics of the cars.
DAS system should have been allowed as well given that major changes were moved to 2022. It was previously thought that the unique front wheels system would be allowed for at least as long as the new changes do not come into effect. However, it has not taken long for it to be banned in the next year’s season.
People had high hopes of the Mercedes’ new invention. Sadly, we will only get to see it work during the F1 2020 season which is a shame because teams like Mercedes work hard to make such inventions possible. They should not be punished for being brilliant at their jobs. It seems as though others felt they were left way behind Mercedes and since they couldn’t get better, they thought pulling Mercedes back would work in their favor. In all honesty, the move does seem a bit desperate.
On the other hand, it also makes sense. There is no doubt about the fact that whenever a new technology is introduced, all the teams want to install it into their respective cars to compete at the same level as everyone else does. Had Mercedes been allowed to use their technology for another year, the rest of the teams would have started scrambling to get the technology. That cannot be good for the overall culture of the F1 racing. Nevertheless, it is always good to see a team like Mercedes prove to the world that more is possible in the world of racing.
